Beginning Cross Stitch



Come learn all about cross stitch so you can feel confident stitching and filling your home with beautiful needlework!  In this beginner level class, you will learn all the basics to get you started.  You will learn about the different types of floss and fabric, the various notions and tools available to stitchers and the different methods for cross stitching.  Once we have covered the basics, our goal is to complete two small cross stitch projects – one on Aida cloth and one on linen.  If time allows, students will choose one of their completed projects to finish as a flat finish.

 We will be putting together a kit for the class supplies, more information will be coming soon.

Supplies:

14 count Aida, 6x7 piece
Flosses for Aida project: (each student needs only one 18” 6-strand length of each color)
Classic Colorworks: Cocoa Bean, Bing Cherry, Golden Star
Gentle Arts: Dried Thyme

28 count linen, 8x8 piece
Flosses for linen project: (each student needs only one 18” 6-strand length of each color)
Gentle Arts: Walnut and Garden Gate
Classic Colorworks: Black Coffee, Fallen Leaves, Fools Gold, Bamboo

Tapestry Needles, size 24
Embroidery scissors
Personal lighting, if desired (craft lamp, magnifying lamp)
Hoop or Q-Snap, if desired
Reading glasses, if desired
Alene’s Tacky Glue – a few bottles


The instructor will make available the following, but if you have some of these supplies already, you may bring them:
Mat board or heavy cardboard
Scrap quilting fabric
Scrap batting
Trim, if needed
