Welcome to “And Sew It Began – Pieceful Stitches,” the first Texas quilting retreat venue nestled in the heart of historic LaPorte, TX. Whether it be sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, or other crafting, this is the place that can offer you the room and comfort to create something beautiful. You’ll be treated to a spacious new state of the art studio with great lighting, design walls, and comfortable chairs. If that’s not enough, this quaint little home is less than 2 blocks away from your very own "personal" quilt shop. Our shop loves to cater to your special requests.
Enjoy stepping back in time and experiencing the character of a 1913 Sears kit house. Each bedroom room is decorated in a different theme and there’s a cozy living room with a fireplace for when you just want to chill out and read a book. A full kitchen is at your disposal and the large dining area can seat your entire group. If cooking is not your thing, plenty of gourmet restaurants are right around the corner.
Nothing recharges your batteries like spending uninterrupted, quality time with your best friends, doing what you love.

The Hopscotch quilt is a large quilt that uses a jelly roll 2 1/2” cut strips. It starts with a center lone star block that is set on point surrounded by checkerboard of colorful squares. Winnie will teach you how to sew a perfect lone star block and then make the checkerboard fit the center block. This quilt can easily be enlarged. There is pre-work (sewing strips) to be done before class.
